I recently purchased a 1980 Porsche 924. After putting in some cash - my car is mechanically in very good shape...and the body/interior is in good shape, but alas - the previous owner added a body kit and other crazy bits. My goal is to restore the car to its 100% original condition. I've been hunting for resources online and stumbled upon this book. Although I was not able to find the book new, it is available used from a number of sellers. The book is a bit costly, but I absolutely love it. It features engaging, informational content and some excellent photos - especially great to use as reference photos for my 924 restoration. What a great gift for any Porsche fan or owner of a 924, 944 or 968.

Excellent book with great photography and many side-by-side photographs showing how the model changed throughout the years. Good technical information and explanation of option codes is also present. An essential guide for those wishing to decide exact which car that they want to look for.

968 is very underrated - this would be a wonderful vehicle if still produced today...the 968 sport, UK only is especially interesting...an excellent read and one worthy to add to the trans-axle generation of books...missing 5 stars as section on 968 could be expanded.

As a fairly new Porsche 944 owner, I have to say that this book has filled in a lot of gaps about the history of the car. The pictures are terrific, especially the opening few pages with visual comparisons from year to year from the front, side, and rear. The only thing lacking is clearer coverage of the one-offs and special editions (such as the 968 Turbo). The author does clarify this omission by saying that the book only covers models that were in general production. The 968 Turbo was built for competition only and not meant for the street.

I am halfway through the book and can't express how much it has spoken to me. The book is divided up into short, numbered sections, all less than half-a-page long; some as short as a sentence, and the reason is this: it is so rich with insight you cannot consume it in large gulps. You need to savor it, like fudge, to make sure you are relishing all that's there. I personally limit myself to about 10 sections per morning and I pause to journal and reflect on most.I don't think I would have been ready to listen to MacDonald a few years ago. He writes from a deep, still place of ruthless, rugged faith. It's particularly rewarding for me to read snippets of his theological thoughts having just read his Curdie books. I notice many of his reflections showing up in the pages of his fiction. I also see the origination of much of C.S. Lewis's thinking and fiction.Buy it and try it. If it doesn't ring true, wait a few years and try again. MacDonald's writings are a gift, as are his stories.

George MacDonald was a prolific writer. This book has the best that CS Lewis could find after extensively studying his works. I just discovered him. CS Lewis called him master and said he never wrote anything that was not influenced by MacDonald. I've read a lot of CS Lewis books and can see MacDonald's influence in many, many places - some places it nearly paraphrased; an exception might be "Till We Have Faces", which lewis said was his favorite book and is mine too, and seems to be quite original relative to MacDonald. I think MacDonald is twice as imaginative as lewis (i.e. Phantastes and Princess and the Goblin), better at communicating Christian and philosophical concepts (his writing style reminds me of Sartre - i.e. it is dense!), and just as good a writer as Lewis - however, CS Lewis said he is not a great writer, but the content of the writing makes up for it.

This book is just short (and when I say short I mean one paragraph or less) excerpts from things George MacDonald said or wrote throughout his life. I thought it would be a collection of his essays or sermons but its not. I was disappointed, but that's because reading a short paragraph a day isn't really what I like. I bought the wrong book for what I wanted, but I don't know that what I wanted/hoped for exists. If you like reading short inspirational quotes of one or two sentences each day to brighten your day, this is your kind of thing. If you're looking for more in depth reading, or a collection of George MacDonald's non-fiction work, this is not the book to find that.

I have read all of George MacDonald novels and the way he weaves spiritual truths throughout the books ministers to me in amazing ways. He makes these truths come alive in my daily walk with the Lord. I also have sermons and poems by him even though I am not big on poetry. I particularly like the novels edited by Michael Phillips. I read everything I find regarding him so this was a nice addition.

C.S. Lewis organized the writings of George MacDonald, a 19th century Scottish cleric, into a series of daily readings, many quite short. It is a good way to read this writer who influenced Lewis.

This is a favorite--long-loved and held in esteem by my philosopher husbandand me. We are always glad to find copies in print. Over the years that has notalways been easy. C. S. Lewis selected these passages from the works ofthe man he said had most influenced his own life and writings.This book is much bigger than it looks. It is profound.

Not great but an example of some of G. MacDonald's thoughts. I wanted to know WHY CS Lewis liked him so much. I didn't find out from this sampling. Had to buy some other writings of MacDonald to do that, such as "Phantastes" and some Kindle versions of MacDonald's "sermons".

Profound wisdom from the "master" of C.S. Lewis. Though Lewis does little writing in this book, his dissecting and categorizing of MacDonald's writings is worthy of a book, and thank God Lewis thought so. The little writing that Lewis contributes is in an insightful introduction, which gives great perspective into the position of MacDonald and his theology. As Paul exhorted, MacDonald has indeed sought wisdom from above, and not of this world. The best description I can use is soul piercing. It's a wonder MacDonald is hardly mentioned or known in the Christian culture as a whole. It's no wonder Lewis called him his master -- I don't doubt many more will as they learn of him, including myself.
